Q1: How did you get to know about BMU and how did you come here?
A: My friend told me about BMU. We both planned to come here but he went to NDU while I came here.
Q2: Was there any specific experience you had that made you realize you were supposed to be here?
A: I was in Human Anatomy, before I migrated to Nursing.
I went through a lot because I was just about to graduate before I decided to migrate to Nursing.
On our first day in Nursing, we were told about Florence Nightingale and hearing about her stirred up a lot of passion in me.
She believed that God brought her to this world to care for people. That was a sign that I was in the right place.
God also showed me other things that confirmed it.
Q3: Do you believe in God and why?
A: God is everything to me.
He has done things for me that I believe nobody else has done.
He has shown me himself in ways that I cannot understand.
Q4: Do you think religion plays a role in academics?
A: Religion does affect your academics. It's easier for a believer to approach academics with a purpose in mind, rather than just applying for any course.
With God, we do not just have success but good success in our academics.
Q4: What's the hardest academic semester you've ever faced and were there times you cried?
A: When I was in 300L Human anatomy first semester, it was a whole lot.
A lot of personal stuff was happening that affected my academics. I cried a lot.
Q5: Have you made any mistake as a student that's taught you a deep lesson and have you ever failed as a student and how did you handle it?
A: I made a mistake in my 100L.
There's this saying that you should get a good CGPA in 100L because it will determine a lot in your academics, going forward.
I didn't put in enough effort as I was supposed to, to get a good CGPA.
It affected my results as I went to higher levels.
If your CGPA is low in 100L, it would only be bringing your total CGPA down going forward.
I failed Chemistry in 100L.
When I migrated to Nursing, they used my CGPA in 100L and it meant a lot.
I had to read extra hard to compensate for my low CGPA in 100L and God helped me a lot.
Q6: What do you think people misunderstand about your course?
A: People think that all we do is check a patient's vital signs but nursing is caring holistically for a patient.
Secondly, people think there's so much suffering in my course. Nursing is patient-centered.
We spend the most time with the patients than any other medical professional.
We know a lot about patients and understand them more.
We are not suffering, we just care more.
Q7: What's the biggest misconception you believe lecturers have about students?
A: They overly generalize students' behavioural problems.
Q8: If I ask you if there's anyone that's majorly shaped your academic journey, does anyone pop up in your head?
A: My mum.
Q9: Where do you see yourself in the next 10 years?
A: I see myself as a big person, walking on purpose.
Q10: If you held a position in SUG BMU, what's one thing that would be different under your administration; one thing we are going to know you for?
A: They would know me for having a lot of social gatherings.
One thing I've noticed is there's a lot of fundamental issues in the minds of young people that need to be corrected. I wish to hold gatherings that'll change that.
Q11: Are there people you've met in this school and you can say God brought you here to meet them?
A: Yes. My best friends and few other close friends I met here have impacted my journey both spiritually and emotionally.
Q12: What's your honest opinion about romantic relationships?
A: I feel before a person enters a relationship, he/she should be holistically mature.
Relationships are a lot of work. I would not advise someone within their first 3 levels in university to go into one.
When you are close to or in your final year then yes, you can be in a relationship.
Make sure the person is Godly, mature and loves you.
Q13: Do you wish to find your Mr. Right in BMU if you have not already found him?
A: I don't wish
Q14: Are there any faults in the Nigerian educational system that if given the opportunity to change, you're going to change instantly and what change(s) are you going to implement?
A: Yes, there are faults. Firstly, I don't think the price of education should be that expensive—something that gives parents high BP just to pay.
Secondly, I don't think they are doing a very good job in employing lecturers. Yes, there are some wonderful lecturers but there should be a committee that scrutinizes new intakes of lecturers.
Those are the two things that I would like to change.
Q15: Is there any question you would have wanted me to ask you or any question you would have wanted to ask me?
A: Yes, I would have wanted you to ask me what I think about my person.
Q16: Who are you?
A: Firstly I'm not just a Child of, but a Son of God
I'm an ambivert.
I can be introverted or extroverted, depending on the situation at hand but, I feel the introverted part is more outspoken.
Also, people also think I'm shy.
I'm not a shy person at all. I'm just very reserved. I'm also very observant.
If I'm in a place, I would likely know the kind of people there without foreknowledge about them at least on an 80% accuracy
